Jon Hamm to guest star on The Simpsons

Befitting a guy who (according to 30 Rock) resembles a cartoon pilot, Mad Men star Jon Hamm will turn up this December on The Simpsons, playing an FBI supervisor who tasks Homer with infiltrating the inner circle of Joe Mantegna’s Fat Tony as an undercover informant. Titled “Donnie Fatso” (The Simpsons—forever topical!), the episode apparently makes zero reference to Hamm’s Don Draper alter ego, instead having him play “a gruff FBI man” who at one point has the following exchange, according to executive producer Al Jean:

“Homer asks if he can pick his undercover name and finally Jon just says, ‘Your name will be Nicky Blue Pants Altosaxophony.’ Homer says, ‘Do I get to keep the name when I’m done with it?’ and Jon says, ‘No, it’s the property of the government.’  He has no patience for Homer.”

This marks Hamm’s first time to appear on The Simpsons, and the first time The Simpsons has had Homer play a prison snitch since all the way back in 2005.
