Jon Stewart gets a stand-up special on HBO, his first in over 20 years

HBO has just announced that former Daily Show host Jon Stewart is returning to stand-up for a new HBO special. This will be Stewart’s first stand-up special in over 20 years, with his last one being Jon Stewart: Unleavened, which aired on HBO in 1996. In a statement, Stewart said that he’s “really thrilled to be able to return to stand-up on HBO,” adding that the premium cable network has always “set the standard for great stand-up specials.” He also teased that he’ll finally be able to use up the Saddam Hussein jokes that were left over from the last time he was on HBO.

According to Variety, Stewart will also be hosting the Night Of Too Many Stars benefit on HBO for the NEXT For Autism organization, with that special reportedly featuring “stand-up performances, sketches, and short films.”
