Jon Stewart to co-host ESPN’s SportsCenter at “Warrior Games” for veterans
His overall deal with HBO might have hit a snag recently, but Jon Stewart’s still keeping busy. In addition to the occasional Late Show appearance, the former Daily Show host has continued his philanthropic work, including a jobs program for veterans. Stewart’s former and current career paths will merge at this weekend’s “Warrior Games” in Chicago, where Stewart will co-host ESPN’s Sport Center coverage along with Hannah Storm.
The Warrior Games feature wounded or otherwise injured service members from all branches of the U.S. military, who compete in Paralympic-style events against similar teams out of Australia and Great Britain. The Games are being held in Chicago (and on public grounds) for the first time ever this year. Stewart and Storm will kick off SportsCenter at the United Center at 7 p.m. ET Friday, with the comedian set to interview some of the athletes starting at 11 p.m. ET.
Stewart performed at last year’s Stand Up For Heroes event, where he marveled, as so many of us did, at Trump’s presidential campaign (oh, to go back in time). But ESPN’s made it clear that there will be no politicking at the Warrior Games this weekend; the network picked Stewart because of his previous work with veterans, and for that reason only.
