Larry Wilmore dropped by to help his old boss, Jon Stewart, say farewell to The Daily Show last year, and now Stewart is returning the favor. Even though The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore was rather unceremoniously canceled on Monday, Wilmore has been in surprisingly good spirits this week, aided no doubt by the cases of “basic cable wine” and tiny airplane bottles of booze sent over by his former Daily Show colleagues Samantha Bee and Stephen Colbert.
Tonight will be the last episode of Wilmore’s show, and earlier today he confirmed—as he’s been hinting all week—that Jon Stewart will appear to give The Nightly Show a proper sendoff. They probably could have used the ratings bump that usually comes with a Jon Stewart cameo a little earlier than their last show, though. Thanks for nothing, Stewart. (Just kidding. It’s a nice gesture.)
