Joni Mitchell reportedly found unconscious, rushed to hospital

As reported by TMZ, renowned folk singer Joni Mitchell was rushed to a hospital earlier today after paramedics responding to a 911 call found her unconscious. TMZ says Mitchell was “alert” while being taken to the hospital, but she’s apparently still in intensive care. No one from Mitchell’s camp has released an official statement about her condition, so we still don’t know what caused her to fall unconscious. TMZ’s sources say the situation “appears to be quite serious,” though, so some comment is most likely forthcoming.

Mitchell is widely regarded as one of the most influential songwriters of all time, and she has left an indelible mark on American folk music. Shine, her most recent album, was released in 2007. Recently, she was in the news for squashing any possibility of being played by Taylor Swift in a movie about her, Carole King, and Carly Simon—which was probably a good idea.
