Joni Mitchell's star-studded birthday concert is getting released as an album

We’ve all hopefully had good birthday parties in our lives, but very few of us can say that we’ve had a birthday party that was so good that the general public has expressed in an interested in buying a recording of the party. Of course, not all of us can be Joni Mitchell, who celebrated her 75th birthday back in November with a big, star-studded musical celebration that is now being released as an album. As announced in a press release, the collection features appearances from Brandi Carlile, Glen Hansard, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Chaka Khan, Diana Krall, Kris Kristofferson, Los Lobos, James Taylor, Seal, Rufus Wainwright, and more, with all of them performing “interpretations of classic Mitchell songs.”

A video version of the birthday celebration will also be screened in theaters this week, on February 7, with tickets and more information available at this link. The album version, meanwhile, will be available on March 8.
