Jordan Peele's Us to premiere at this year's SXSW
If you had five on Jordan Peele’s Us premiering at this year’s SXSW, the very same festival where John Krasinski debuted last year’s A Quiet Place, then it’s time to collect. The Austin-based event has announced that Us, Peele’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning Get Out, will, on March 8, serve as the festival’s opening night film.
“We are crazy excited to world premiere the most anticipated film of 2019 from the creative powerhouse that brought us Get Out,” Janet Pierson, SXSW’s Director of Film, said in a press release. “We honestly couldn’t imagine a more perfect film to kick off the 2019 SXSW Film Festival.”
Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Evan Alex star in the home invasion horror flick as a family who, while on an oceanside vacation, find themselves confronted by their doppelgängers. Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, and a fearsome pair of gold-plated scissors co-star in the movie, which officially opens on March 15.
SXSW will share its preliminary slate of features on January 16, with its midnighters and festival favorites following on February 6.
