Say what you will about Lip Sync Battle and the Jimmy Fallon-hosted Tonight Show that spawned it, but sometimes it’s just really cathartic to watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt put on a fun outfit and dance around. That was the case on last night’s Lip Sync Battle, which pitted Gordon-Levitt against his Night Before co-star Anthony Mackie in a heated match to see who could be the most committed. While Mackie’s performance of “2 Legit 2 Quit” was perfectly serviceable, Gordon-Levitt donned full Janet Jackson drag for his performance of “Rhythm Nation,” resulting in a performance that left LL Cool J nearly speechless. As Vulture notes, JGL nails everything from Jackson’s inspirational chat at the beginning of the song to the video’s complicated choreography. It’s perfect. Really, it is.
