Josh Brolin and Miles Teller heroically charge into firefighter movie

Regardless of the terrible risk that it might invite comparisons to past flame-battling movies like Backdraft, or the one where Kirk Cameron is addicted to internet porn, Miles Teller and Josh Brolin have both charged into a true-life firefighter story from the director of Tron: Legacy. The pair will star together in No Exit, in which they’ll have to contend with the Sartre-esque existential prison of knowing that the only really good firefighting movies are Roxanne and The Towering Inferno.

Based on a real-life incident from 2013, in which 19 firefighters died battling a wildfire in an Arizon town, the film is being directed by Joseph Kosinski. His past credits include the 2010 Tron sequel, and Oblivion, which told the similarly true story of humanity doing its best to avoid an alien-compromised Tom Cruise.

Teller and Brolin, meanwhile, are both having busy years; Brolin just starred in the Coens’ fast-talking period comedy Hail, Caesar!, while Teller has another damn Divergent movie coming out in a little more than a month. Now, they’ll presumably be able to forge a fire-tested friendship and loyalty together, based on the shared danger that someone might give them an Oscar for smearing ash on their faces and heroically portraying some people who tragically died.
