Josh Hopkins moves from Cougar Town to Quantico

After a short stay on TBS, Cougar Town alum Josh Hopkins is returning to ABC: The actor has just been added to the cast of Quantico, a new primetime drama that will premiere in the fall. Executive producer Joshua Safran—whose credits include Gossip Girl and Smash—created the show, which will follow a group of hot, young CIA recruits who must deal with basic training and a double agent in their midst.

Hopkins will play the “sexy and charming” Special Agent Liam O’Conner, a staff counselor on the base who works with director of the FBI to single out the best recruits. O’Conner is reportedly a skilled counselor, but that won’t prevent him from butting heads with his former partner, Miranda Shaw (Aunjanue Ellis), who just happens to be said director. He also struggles with a tragic secret and bouts of depression that may or may not end up interfering with his job.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Conner won’t be the only sexy character in Quantico with a complicated past: Virtually all of the FBI trainees have something to hide, from fraternization to plotting a future terrorist attack.
