Joss Whedon isn’t worried about casting a big name for Batgirl

Stop your fantasy casting now. Joss Whedon explained in an interview with Variety that he’s probably not going to hire someone you already know to play Batgirl in the movie he’s developing for Warners Bros. “I doubt it will be a name,” he said. “I think this is somewhere where you go and find Batgirl and then you cast her.”

Mind you, he was speaking on the red carpet for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, blithely flaunting his Marvel betrayal. “I’m not against movie stars, they’re great,” he continued. “But you need somebody who is going to be just right and in a situation like this the name carries a lot of weight so it’s not as critical. So definitely Vin Diesel.” It’s a joke, but, you know, we are all Groot.
