Last month at his FAC251 nightclub in Manchester, bassist Peter Hook paid tribute to his late Joy Division bandmate, Ian Curtis, by playing the band's 1979 masterpiece Unknown Pleasures in its entirety. Now that tribute is paying him back: As reported by NME, Hook will repeat the performance on July 24 at London's 1234 Festival. He'll be backed once more by The Light, a modified version of his current group, Freebass. But don't expect to hear Hook actually play those Joy Division bass lines he made famous. Instead, as seen in this video of the FAC251 show, he'll take the mic to deliver his gruffest Ian Curtis impersonation and "do [his] fucking level best to remember his beautiful words."
