Joyce Manor and 100% release split single benefitting Planned Parenthood
Last fall, Joyce Manor went out on tour with Crying, one of Elaiza Santos’ many projects. When Joyce Manor wasn’t busy learning a cover of The National for The A.V. Club, the band was becoming fast friends with Santos and her Crying bandmates. An idea was struck that Joyce Manor would release a split single with 100%, Santos’ other band, where they’d each cover songs by the oft-forgotten Stephen Merritt band The 6ths. While that idea was fun enough on its own, the bands would use the release as a way to raise money for Planned Parenthood.
Today, The A.V. Club is streaming both songs from the split, which is available for purchase both on Bandcamp and via a hyper-limited lathe-cut record. Limited to a mere 50 copies and hand-pressed by Precarian Cuts in Tucson, Arizona, the split sees Joyce Manor taking on “Falling Out Of Love With You” and 100% doing “All Dressed Up In Dreams.” Both songs are more stripped down takes on the originals, getting a little plaintive in the process.
Pre-orders for the split are available now, both through Bandcamp and Phat ‘n’ Phunky with all proceeds going to Planned Parenthood.
