Judd Apatow is producing a new Pee-wee Herman movie for Netflix
You don’t want to get mixed up with a guy like Pee-wee Herman. He’s a loner. A rebel. But according to Variety, Judd Apatow is foolishly ignoring that advice and has plans to produce a new movie starring Paul Reubens’ signature character. The project was originally at Universal before resurfacing at Netflix, presumably after spending some time in the basement of the Alamo. (Netflix is already offering Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, Big Top Pee-wee, and both volumes of The Pee-wee Herman Show.)
Reubens has not shared details of the script he co-wrote with Paul Rust, and a director has not yet been announced. The film is slated to shoot in 2015, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. That’s three times 10 years, so don’t be surprised if Large Marge manifests to tell us about the worst accident she’s ever seen.
