Judge awards Alice Glass $20k for legal fees, ending her legal battle against ex-bandmate Ethan Kath

The legal battle between former Crystal Castles member Alice Glass and ex-bandmate Ethan Kath appears to have (hopefully) finally come to an end, after a judge awarded Glass—who’s accused her former bandmate of sexually assaulting and abusing her during their time together—more than $20,000 in legal fees related to the suits and countersuits between them. Per Pitchfork, the judge also dismissed Kath’s defamation case against Glass, stating that he “failed to provide any admissible evidence” supporting the claim.

Glass came forward with her allegations against Kath last October, writing a statement in which she outlined the ways she says he physically and sexually assaulted her while they were romantic partners and bandmates. Kath sued her for defamation, which she answered with a countersuit of her own, and, after several legal back-and-forths that largely favored Glass, that eventually brings us to today. Kath still tours under the name Crystal Castles, alongside Edith Frances; the band canceled several tour dates last year, in the wake of Glass’ accusations. Meanwhile, a lawyer for Glass told Pitchfork that “The case is over” now.
