Judge Judy stands to make $200 million off of her old reruns
Most people who find themselves watching episodes of Judge Judy are squeezing those in during their important loafing time, which they’ll now feel all the worse about with the news that the no-nonsense judge has just netted herself a very lucrative deal. Judith Sheindlin, former supervising judge of the Manhattan family court division, has snagged a yearly salary of $47 million in her latest contract negotiation with CBS. We know what you’re thinking, and no, no one is peeing on your leg and telling you it’s raining. And, according to Deadline, Sheindlin also plans to sell the rights to her reruns, which could earn her another $200 million. That’s an insane amount of money to wave goodbye to, but CBS executives were only too happy to give Sheindlin the Judge Judy rights, as she brings in an average of 10 million daily viewers. Obviously, this means that future episodes of Judge Judy will see her banging a diamond-encrusted gavel.
