Julia Roberts is headed to TV
Movie star Julia Roberts is descending once more into the world of television, with Annapurna Television announcing that the Pretty Woman actress is set to star in and produce an adaptation of Maria Semple’s novel Today Will Be Different. Roberts will star in the series as Eleanor Flood, a woman whose plans to gently correct the course of her life get repeatedly hamstrung by outside events.
Roberts last worked in TV back in 2014, when she co-starred in HBO’s TV movie The Normal Heart, masterminded by Ryan Murphy. (Before that, she showed up on Murphy Brown in 1998, and got her mandatory Law & Order appearance in in 1999.) Her most recent films were Jodie Foster’s financial thriller Money Monster and Garry Marshall’s Mother’s Day, officially one of our least favorite movies of 2016.
