Julianne Moore may play another overbearing fundamentalist mother in the Carrie remake

Julianne Moore is reportedly in talks to play a domineering mother driven by her fundamentalist beliefs and plagued by fears of how they’re all gonna laugh at you—or rather, another one of those, as Moore is in negotiations to transition from Sarah Palin in Game Change to Margaret White in Carrie, which is a slightly different mode of horror story. Bloody Disgusting claims that Moore is in talks with Columbia and director Kimberly Peirce about joining the Stephen King adaptation, in which Moore could fluff the dirty pillows of a whole new generation of sexually repressed teenage girls represented by the recently cast Chloe Moretz. Moore, of course, is stranger neither to horror nor remake, having starred in films like Hannibal and Gus Van Sant’s Psycho, recently begun work on the “exorcism fantasy” The Seventh Son, and reimagined the Boston accent for a terrified audience on 30 Rock. And she certainly has an icy, commanding presence that no one would dare talk about boys or get their period around.
