Julianne Moore might play the villain in Kingsman 2
Julianne Moore is reportedly in talks with Fox to play the villain in the sequel to its surprise action-comedy hit Kingsman: The Secret Service. The follow-up will continue the adventures of street-tough-turned-secret-agent “Eggsy” Unwin (played by Taron Egerton). But this time the action is moving from the U.K. to the U.S., so Moore might not even have to affect an accent. Unless, of course, her character is from Boston, in which case she can dust off the one she used for 30 Rock.
This could be good news for Kingsman 2, which will come bearing none of the charm or gravitas imbued upon the original by Oscar-winning British actor Colin Firth, who will not be returning. Moore, a fellow Oscar winner who co-starred with Firth in the 2009 drama A Single Man, may be able to make up some of that charm and gravitas deficit, however. Matthew Vaughn is supposedly returning as director, although some sources say otherwise. Filming in scheduled to begin in May, with a planned June 16, 2017 release date.
