Julie Delpy is developing her first TV series
Filmmaker and actress Julie Delpy has revealed that she is working on a scripted television series for an unnamed-but-prominent U.S. streaming network, Variety reports. On The Verge, which she’s developing as a writer, will focus on a group of unattached women friends in their forties and the way that they relate to the various men who enter and leave their lives. “We usually picture women in their forties at peace with themselves, but that’s not how they are in real life,” Delpy said. “I’d like to show them in a way that we haven’t seen them before — show how crude and crazy they can be when they talk about men, sex and relationships.”
Delpy’s description of her first television project came as the 46-year-old writer-director was presenting her newest film, Lolo, at the New York Rendez-Vous with French Cinema. Delpy has previously served as a writer on numerous film projects, including Before Sunset and Before Midnight (with Richard Linklater and Ethan Hawke) which earned her two Oscar nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay. She also wrote and directed 2 Days In Paris, 2 Days In New York, Skylab, and The Countess. She is currently working on two U.S.-based features, both as director and one as an actor.
