Jury rules in favor of Taylor Swift, awards her $1

Just a few hours after both sides presented their closing arguments in the lawsuit between former DJ David Mueller and Taylor Swift—who he accused of getting him fired over accusations that he groped her—the jury has ruled in Swift’s favor. She had countersued Mueller over the alleged assault for $1 in an attempt to set “an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts,” and the judge has now ordered Mueller to pay Swift that $1 in damages.

This comes from CNN, which says that the jury has also determined that Swift’s mother and radio promotions director Frank Bell, both of whom were named in Mueller’s suit, were also not liable for tortious interference—which is the legal way of saying that someone essentially conspired to force you to break a contract.
