Justin Bieber mysteriously cancels remaining dates of world tour

In a post on his website, Justin Bieber has announced that he has canceled the remaining dates of his Purpose World Tour due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The statement goes on to say that Bieber “loves his fans and hates to disappoint them,” but he has nonetheless decided to drop out of the last 15 stops on the tour. Of course, “unforseen circumstances” is one of the lamest excuses someone can have for canceling anything, but TMZ says a source from the tour says that Bieber is really “just over it.” His own statement makes a point to highlight that he and his crew have done “over 150 successful shows” since kicking off this run in March of 2016, so if this “over it” story is accurate, maybe he simply decided that almost completing was good enough.

Rolling Stone sort of suggests that there’s a different reason for the abrupt cancellation, connecting the news to the recent report that Bieber has been banned from China for being a “controversial young foreign singer” who has “engaged in a series of bad behaviors” that have “caused discontent among the public.” Perhaps he decided to cut the tour short so he could think about the direction his career has taken and whether or not he wants to be the sort of artist who gets banned for being a bad influence.
