Justin Lin’s 3-D Shaolin Temple remake has a writer, no Jet Li

A project that has been coming together for the better part of 2014 is now one step closer to becoming a reality. Killing Them Softly’s Andrew Dominik has signed on to write a proposed 3-D remake of Shaolin Temple, the first in a series of martial arts films that made Jet Li a superstar in his native China. Justin Lin, who has proven his action chops several times over making Fast & Furious movies, has been tapped to direct just as soon as he finishes making the next Bourne movie. In a reflection of China’s ever-increasing influence, Shaolin Temple is importing American talent, but it will be paid for by Chinese financiers who are apparently willing to throw quite a bit of money at it: The projected budget for the film is over $100 million.
