Justin Timberlake suggests he's releasing an album at some point in the future, probably

Justin Timberlake has announced that he’s at least thinking about making new music—if he hasn’t done so already. In a clip posted to Timberlake’s YouTube page, the singer can be seen strutting through a myriad of studio doors before settling in to record, saying portentously that he’s “ready.” Whether that means a new album's "ready" and will come out this year, or he’s saying he's "ready" to go into the studio to work on one for the next three years is still anyone’s guess, though. But given that Timberlake also put a clock on his website counting down to midnight, January 14, the former is probably a solid bet.

Rumors have been flying for a while that Timberlake has already recorded at least 20 songs with producer and fellow woodsman Timbaland—including a duet with Jay-Z and Beyonce—but so far none of that chatter has been officially confirmed. Seeing as he’s only released two solo albums in the past decade (2002’s Justified and 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds) it’s a safe assumption that Timberlake is a bit of a production masochist. That’s something he reiterates in the clip, saying that, because he throws himself so deeply into his process, he hasn’t allowed himself to make a record in recent years, instead preferring to star in movies—both bad and goodget married, and make out with Susan Sarandon. Which, fair enough.
