While it may have been easy to miss, Taylor Swift wasn’t the only artist to announce a new album at the Grammys. During the first commercial break after she presented the Best Country Album award on Sunday, a lush, woodsy preview reel rolled officially confirming that Kacey Musgraves’ third album was on the way. Today, the “Slow Burn” singer revealed the cover art, full track listing, and leading single from the album, titled Deeper Well. The record drops March 15.

Musgraves’ fifth album, Star-Crossed (2021), saw the artist in the weeds of heartbreak following her divorce from fellow country singer Ruston Kelly in 2020. Three years later, Musgraves is relearning how to celebrate herself and prioritize her peace. “So I’m sayin’ goodbye to the people that I feel/Are real good at wastin’ my time/No regrets, baby, I just think that maybe/You go your way and I’ll go mine,” she sings in the chorus 0f the album’s titular single.

The folky track has a warm and gentle feel, as Musgraves sings about moving on from the past. In a press release, Musgraves said of the meaning behind the lyrics: “Sometimes you reach a crossroads. Winds change direction. What you once felt drawn to doesn’t hold the same allure. You get blown off course but eventually find your footing and forage for new inspiration, new insight and deeper love somewhere else.”

Two of those places seem to be the forests and cliffs of the British Isles, which feature heavily in the song’s mystical video—directed by Hannah Lux Davis—that also dropped today. Another is New York’s Greenwich Village, home of the legendary Electric Lady Studios (also home to Taylor Swift), which Kacey cites as an inspiration for the album. “I was seeking some different environmental energy, and Electric Lady has the best mojo. Great ghosts,” she said. Musgraves’ longtime collaborators, Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, are also credited as co-producers and co-writers on the album.
