Kaitlin Olson says Glenn Howerton will almost certainly show up on-camera on this season of It's Always Sunny
It’s been more than a year since the last season of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia ended on a major cliffhanger, with semi-sociopathic malcontent Dennis Reynolds bailing on Paddy’s Pub to take a stab at responsible fatherhood—and co-star Glenn Howerton suggesting he might not be coming back. A year later, and Howerton—who currently stars on NBC’s A.P Bio, but who’s still set to write and produce on Sunny—is still being cagey about when, if ever, Dennis will be back on the show, recently telling Playboy, “Uh, that’s a tough question to answer. I just can’t answer that” when they asked about his potential return. (He did add: “I doubt you will have seen the last of Dennis, whether it’s in season 13 or 14,” at least.)
Co-star Kaitlin Olson seems a lot more certain about it, though (and a lot less spoiler-averse), confirming to The Wrap this week that Howerton will appear on-camera at some point during the show’s upcoming 13th season. “I do know that Glenn Howerton is coming back for some episodes,” Olson said in an interview. “I don’t know the specifics, but I do know how he’s being introduced back in, and it is absolutely hilarious.” That’s good news for fans of the show, obviously, but also for Olson, who promised us last year that she’d lure Howerton back in front of the camera on the long-running series, a responsibility we hope she took as seriously as we did.
FXX has yet to set a solid release date for the newest season of Sunny, which was presumably delayed in part by Howerton’s new acting duties at NBC (not to mention the cast’s other projects, like The Mick and Pacific Rim: Uprising). The new season is expected to debut some time this fall, golden god in tow or not.
