As reported today by The Washington Post and many other publications that don't sound as august, Kal Penn is leaving his position as associate director of Barack Obama's Office Of Public Engagement to return to Hollywood. Penn—who's been going by his birth name, Kalpen Modi, during the last nine months he's been working for the federal government doing, uh, something—has signed on alongside John Cho to star in A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, due next year. A more droll and keen-witted Newswire reporter might have used this opportunity to deliver some sort of White House/White Castle joke, but alas, that reporter is not on duty.
