Kanye, Beck, potential awkwardness to headline this year’s Governors Ball

Resurrecting a story we suddenly remember caring briefly about way back in early 2015, the organizers of the 2016 Governors Ball have announced that onetime non-consensual Grammy stage-sharers Beck and Kanye West will both be headlining the long-running music festival this year. That sounds like it could carry the potential for a lot of backstage awkwardness between the two performers, except for the part where Beck seems like too chill of a dude to bring it up, and Kanye probably doesn’t remember that it happened. (Yeezy looks to the perfect, Beyoncé-dominated future, friends.)

Also appearing at the New York City-based fest, which is set to kick off on June 3: The Strokes, The Killers, Chvrches, Father John Misty, Eagles Of Death Metal, and Death Cab For Cutie, plus a bunch of other groups that you can see either on the poster below or on the Governors Ball website. Plus: No Guns N’ Roses! So if you wanted to see Chvrches this year, but couldn’t stomach the thought of accidentally catching a glimpse of Axl Rose and Slash wheezing out “Welcome To The Jungle” like a poorly aged GN’R tribute band at a corporate picnic at Coachella, this might be the festival for you.
