Kanye West and others hold court in the Daft Punk Unchained trailer
“Who revolutionized dance music the most?,” asks Kanye West, in this new trailer for the documentary Daft Punk Unchained. “And people would say, ‘Daft Punk.’” Indeed, this two-minute teaser reel looks like nothing so much as a prelude to musical canonization for the group, as interviews with Pharrell, Paul Williams, and others all point to the undisputed greatness of one of dance music’s most critically and commercially successful acts. The documentary originally aired back in June on French channel Canal+, but the BBC is now planning a wider release for it. Directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre, the film also includes interviews with Giorgio Moroder, Michel Gondry, Todd Edwards, and Pete Tong. There’s no official premiere date as of yet, but one would assume the gears are turning, given there are robots involved.
