Kanye West calls an audible, changes his new album from SWISH to WAVES

Like a high school metal kid, whiling away his detention by considering, scrawling, and then crossing off various potential band and album names from the cover of his ink-stained notebook—except for the part where he’s one of the world’s most successful musicians, and his canvas is a 17 million-follower Twitter account—Kanye West has announced that he’s changing the name of his upcoming album. No longer titled SWISH, the rapidly approaching disc is now going by WAVES, sharing a name with one of the songs from the track list the artist revealed earlier today.

Of course, there’s still more than two weeks between now and February 11, when the album is expected to drop. That’s plenty of time for the mercurial West to change his mind again, and substitute some other five-letter word for the name of his long-anticipated seventh studio album. “Kanye West’s CHARD.“ “Kanye West’s PIZZA.” “Kanye West’s BREAD.” (Sorry, it’s close to dinner time, and following the twists and turns of West’s creative process is hungry-making work.)
