Kanye West, Jack White, Elton John, and more set to play Bonnaroo 2014
Kanye West, Jack White, and Elton John are set to headline this year’s Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival. The Manchester, Tennessee hoedown will also feature performances from Lionel Richie, Vampire Weekend, The Avett Brothers, Phoenix, Frank Ocean, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Neutral Milk Hotel, Arctic Monkeys, The Flaming Lips, Disclosure, Ice Cube, Broken Bells, Wiz Khalifa, Skrillex, Damon Albarn, Cake, Danny Brown, James Blake, Mastodon, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and more, plus comedy from the likes of Hannibal Burress and SNL’s Taran Killam. The full lineup is over on Bonnaroo’s site.
This is actually the second time that Kanye West has headlined Bonnaroo. In 2008, West’s set turned into a big fiasco, with the rapper not actually hitting the stage until 4:30 a.m. After a shortened set, West blogged about his subpar experience at the fest, saying, in all caps, “WE WERE OBVIOUSLY DEALING WITH FUCKING IDIOTS WHO DIDN’T REALLY HAVE THE CAPACITY TO REALLY PUT ON THIS SHOW PROPERLY.” Bonnaroo’s promoter, Superfly, says it doesn’t hold grudges, saying “everyone has moved on—it’s in the past.” A company spokesman told Relix that West’s appearance is “a great opportunity for the Bonnaroo community to show what it’s made of.”
