Watch The Throne, the collaborative album by Kanye West and Jay-Z, is one of the most anticipated hip-hop records of 2011, but a firm release date hasn’t been forthcoming. Now multiple media sources—including Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and The Source—are reporting that Watch The Throne is “heavily rumored” (in the words of Rolling Stone) to be dropping at digital outlets on July 4. Actual evidence for this being the release date appears to be scant, with all eyes on a Source story from three weeks ago based on information from “a source very close to the Hov and Ye super project.” So, take that for what it’s worth, and maybe swing by iTunes on the way to the grill this Independence Day just in case.
