Kanye West is being sued yet again. This time around, record label TufAmerica is taking Yeezy to court for allegedly using illegal samples of material it owns on 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The label claims that part of Eddie Bo’s 1969 song “Hook And Sling, Part 1” shows up on three of the record’s songs: “Who Will Survive In America,” “Lost In The World,” and “Runaway.” While West’s label, Roc-A-Fella, paid a $62,500 licensing fee, TufAmerica claims that was only for the sample’s use in “Runaway,” not the two other tracks.
TufAmerica is seeking undisclosed damages for the copyright infringements. The label previously sued the Beastie Boys, Capitol Records, Universal Music, and Brooklyn Dust Music earlier this year, claiming samples from two Trouble Funk songs it administers were illegally used on License To Ill and Paul’s Boutique.
