Some three years after it became a Grammy-winning hit, Kanye West’s “Stronger” is the subject of a new lawsuit by rapper Vincent “Vince P.” Peters, who claims that West stole the track from him. According to Peters, he gave a copy of the song to John Monopoly, West’s former manager, seven months before West debuted his own version; Peters alleges that significant portions of the lyrics—including the lines “that which does not kill me makes me stronger,” “can’t wait much longer,” the fake word “wronger,” and a reference to Kate Moss—were copied “identically or almost identically” in West’s “Stronger.” The suit charges West with copyright infringement and asks that he, Roc-a-fella Records, UMG Recordings, and presumably everyone in the known universe “destroy all copies they have of the single,” which you should get on right now. (Of course, when it comes down to who’s copying who, Vince P. has his own issues.)
