Karl Urban hopes to play Judge Dredd again on TV

Pete Travis’ Dredd came out almost five years ago, and while Karl Urban didn’t exactly blow anyone away as the eponymous supercop (not counting the bad guys he killed), people liked the movie and they liked seeing his ever-present scowl underneath Judge Dredd’s helmet. Dredd will probably never get a sequel, but IM Global and video game publisher Rebellion have been developing a TV show based on the character and his world called Judge Dredd: Mega City One, and Urban recently revealed that he’s been in talks with the studios about appearing in it as Dredd himself. That comes from TrekMovie (via Collider), which quotes Urban as saying he had told IM Global that “if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function,” then he would “love” to be a part of the project.

Mega City One was just announced in May, and it’s not set up at a network or streaming service yet, so it’s possible that the show will never happen even if Urban agrees to get on board.
