Kate Hudson joins Mark Wahlberg’s BP oil disaster movie
Kate Hudson will join her adoptive father, Kurt Russell, as well as John Malkovich and Mark Wahlberg in Deepwater Horizon, the film that will recount the events of the 2010 BP oil rig disaster that claimed 11 lives. As previously reported, Wahlberg plays Mike Williams, a marine electrician working on the rig, whose warnings about a looming potential catastrophe go unheeded. According to Deadline, Kate Hudson is set to play Williams’ wife, Felicia—because even though he’s just a lowly roughneck, he’s still Mahk fahkin’ Wahlberg, and he deserves to have a hawt wife.
Malkovich will play a BP executive who refuses to accept advice from employees like Williams, or maybe he just can’t understand his electrician’s hatchet wound of an accent. Based on the New York Times article “Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hour,” Deepwater Horizon is currently in production, and is expected to reach theaters September 2016.
