Katee Sackhoff to play a stoner mom in Girl Flu

As reported by Deadline, Katee Sackhoff has taken a break from everyone’s superhero casting dreams to join Girl Flu, a coming-of-age story about a 12-year-old girl and the “worst week of her life.” Jade Pettyjohn—who is a veteran of The Cape, Revolution, and The Last Ship, so you know she’s tough—plays the girl, and Sackhoff plays her “immature and stoner” mother who moves her from the San Fernando Valley to Echo Park—which are names that probably mean something to Los Angeles people—and then abandons her. Plus, in case the title of the movie wasn’t clear enough, she then also gets her first period. So it’s fun times all around, then.

Girl Flu also features Jeremy Sisto, Heather Matarazzo, Judy Reyes, and Isaiah Mustafa. It’s being directed by Dorie Barton, and it’s currently in production. Who knows, maybe Sackhoff abandoned her daughter so she could star in the Captain Marvel movie like so many people want her to. It may have caused the girl to have a pretty terrible week, but that would almost be worth it, right?
