Kathryn Hahn to star in Jill Soloway’s I Love Dick

Deadline reports that Kathryn Hahn has been cast as the lead in Jill Soloway’s upcoming Amazon comedy, I Love Dick, based on Chris Kraus’ 1997 novel of the same title. The pilot was written by playwright Sarah Gubbins and will be directed by Soloway. I Love Dick is set in the academic community of Marfa, Texas and follows a struggling married couple: independent filmmaker Chris (played by Hahn) and philosopher Sylvere. The couple becomes mutually obsessed with a charming and abrasive media professor named Dick. They love Dick! The obsession leads Chris down a twisty path of self-discovery, and like Showtime’s The Affair, I Love Dick will switch between the characters’ points of view. It seems Amazon is trying to combine two things beloved by the Golden Globes: The Affair and Jill Soloway.

Hahn is a recurring scene-stealer on Soloway’s Transparent as Rabbi Raquel, and she recently shared a SAG Awards ensemble nomination with the rest of Transparent’s cast. Soloway also recently produced The Skinny, a web series from director and YouTube personality Jessie Kahnweiler, and is developing a new buddy-comedy series for MTV. She’ll also continue running Transparent, which was renewed for a third season six months before the second debuted.
