Katy Perry announces new album and tour

In February, Katy Perry released a video that established her as a new voice in the world of socially conscious pop that makes you feel good about hanging out with your friends but also reminds you that watching the news is a good way to stay informed about important issues, and now she has announced a brand new album to go along with her newly political-ish identity. The album—Perry’s fourth—is called Witness, and a press release (via Variety) says the album finds Perry “[reflecting] on the changes in her own life and in the world around her, delivering songs that both challenge and inspire.” She probably won’t be literally singing protest songs about Donald Trump, but Perry’s gotta take this revolution thing slowly if she doesn’t want to scare her fans off.

Along with Witness, Perry has announced a lengthy tour to support the album that stretches into February of next year, with Variety noting that each ticket to one of the shows on the tour will include a copy of the album. Plus, $1 of every ticket sale will be donated to the Boys And Girls Clubs Of America. The full list of dates is below, along with previously release single “Chained To The Rhythm.”
