Katy Perry offered to write Hillary Clinton’s campaign song
This weekend, in another coup for social media, Twitter allowed Katy Perry to make a public offer to write Hillary Clinton’s campaign song. The singer posted an Instagram of her and the presumed presidential candidate, while holding a copy of Clinton’s new book, Hard Choices. Perry then linked to the Instagram on Twitter and added, with several emoji, that she had told the former Senator she was interested in writing her campaign song.
The emoji appear to be three American flags and two of the generic “white woman” variety. Perry did not specify if these emoji were part of her pitch for the “‘theme song.”
Clinton responded on Twitter as well—and though she eschewed emoji, she went for the time-honored title-pun instead.
Note that the pun extends to two different titles—”Hard Choice” for Clinton’s new book and “Roar” for Perry’s hit single. That is known as “brand synergy.”
