Ken Marino to play a mob boss on Agent Carter season 2
Raising The A.V. Club’s hopes that someone might actually buy that Agent Carter/Wet Hot American Summer crossover script we wrote on spec, Variety reports that Ken Marino has joined the cast of Agent Carter season two. Marino will play Joseph Manfredi, a “volatile”—is there any other kind?—boss of the Maggia crime family who’s in league with Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) enemies.
The casting actually isn’t that much of a stretch, since Marino previously appeared on Reaper—created by Agent Carter showrunners Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas—as Tony, leader of the anti-Devil rebellion. Butters, Fazekas, and Reaper and Agent Carter executive producer Chris Dingess have released a statement to this effect, saying:
We’ve loved working with Ken ever since he played a gay ex-demon for us on Reaper and we were so happy he was available for this role … Writing for him is easy, because he can do pretty much anything. And he used to have a karaoke room in his house, which makes him even more awesome.
Used to? We thought you were cool, Ken. Anyway, Agent Carter returns to ABC in January.
