Kendrick Lamar faces down a copyright infringement lawsuit
Kendrick Lamar needs to learn a few things about image attribution and copyright laws. The To Pimp A Butterfly rapper is being sued by a photographer who claims Lamar illegally used one of her images of a woman breastfeeding two children at once. Giordano Cipriani is suing Lamar, Top Dawg Entertainment, and Interscope Records and is seeking an injunction over the group’s use of the image, which appears on the “The Blacker The Berry” single. According to Cipriani’s lawsuit, the photographer, “is entitled to damages and Defendants’ profits attributable to the infringement, as well as an accounting of those profits, in an amount to be determined at trial.”
Neither Lamar’s reps nor Interscope has commented on the suit yet, but one would have to guess that the whole thing will be settled out of court.
