Kendrick Lamar hints at new music in cryptic Instagram post
Kendrick Lamar is hinting at something on Instagram, and that something is likely a new album. Lamar posted a simple image of the Roman numeral for four against an austere background, and removed all other content from his account. Though there is no accompanying text, it’s easy to make the deduction that the To Pimp A Butterfly rapper is prepping fans for the music he will be debuting.
Lamar’s next album would be the fourth since signing to Interscope, hence the numeric allusion. Previously he released Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, the widely heralded To Pimp A Butterfly, and the surprise untitled unmastered., which The A.V. Club called “a bonus disc that improbably holds up as an essential album in its own right.” (Though Lamar’s Overly Dedicated and Section.80 came out before he was on a major label, he said in a GQ interview that he considers To Pimp A Butterfly his ”second LP.”) As for when we’ll hear his new stuff, all we have to go on is his missive, so it’s unclear how long the wait will be.
