Kendrick Lamar releases new single, hints at upcoming album date
As Instagram detectives suspected, Kendrick Lamar released new music tonight, his first since last year’s demo compilation untitled unmastered. The cryptic Roman numeral IV on Lamar’s social media posts wasn’t in reference to a fourth full album from the To Pimp A Butterfly star, though; instead, it signified the release of “The Heart Part 4,” a new single and sequel to some of his previous efforts.
The song is available right now through iTunes and Apple Music. Lest the Kendrick scavenger hunt die down, though, the track ends with another hint of more music on the way. Per Pitchfork, Lamar ends the song by rapping, “Y’all got ’til April 7 to get y’all shit together,” suggesting that might be the date for his next full-length release.
