Kendrick will perform a headlining set at the VMAs

MTV announced today that Kendrick Lamar will perform a headlining set at this year’s Video Music Awards. The Awards’ organizers presumably extended the invitation after looking over the nominations and realizing he was going to be up there most of the time anyway—Lamar is the most-nominated artist this year, courtesy of Damn. and his latest hit single, “Humble”—and figuring they might as well get a show out of it. Lamar joins a set list that includes fellow nominees Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, plus more artists yet to come.

The VMAs will air live on Sunday, August 27. Meanwhile, voting is still open; you can see the full list of nominations right here.
