According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Bacon is in talks to play the eponymous Dick in the Amazon pilot I Love Dick, based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Chris Kraus. The show is described as a “sex comedy” that comes from Transparent creator Jill Soloway, and it will tell the story of a married couple that has a “mutual obsession” with Bacon’s Dick, “an off-putting but charismatic college professor” who is also a “sexy silver fox” and a “cowboy intellectual.”
On top of that, I Love Dick will be told Rashomon-style, with alternating points of view that give the main characters their own spotlights. It will also reportedly explore “the unraveling of a marriage, the awakening of an artist, and the reluctant deification of a man named Dick.” Also, just in case this wasn’t clear yet, it’s funny that Bacon’s character is named Dick.
