We’re sort of in the waning years of the Kevin Hartissance—the time period during which Kevin Hart was in every movie—but that doesn’t mean he can’t still land some major roles. In fact, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Hart is currently in negotiations for what is pretty much the major role. It’s the kind of part that actors all over the world would kill for, thanks to its iconic status and the unique opportunities it affords. We’re talking, of course, about Santa Claus.
If the deals work out, Hart will star as Santa Claus in Dashing Through The Snow, a new Christmas-themed holiday comedy from Disney. The movie is about a workaholic detective in New York who has “a strained relationship with his son,” and the only thing that can patch things up between them is getting Santa to reignite the father’s belief in Christmas magic. Essentially, it sounds like pretty much every other Christmas movie, but with the added hook of Kevin Hart playing the guy in the red suit. Sometimes, that’s all you need.
