Kevin Hart’s Run The Jewels movie isn’t about the rappers, but they’re still pissed
Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter shared the news that Kevin Hart is going to produce a movie called Run The Jewels, about a band of failed rappers who make a career move into the lucrative, albeit less competitive, field of “[robbing] an eccentric hip-hop mogul.” You’d be forgiven if you read that headline and assumed the project had something to do with the Killer Mike and El-P rap duo, Run The Jewels—but only if you don’t work for Universal. See, El-P came across that news, and he’s pissed about the movie title:
excuse me while I go starve a savage pack of lawyers for 7 days.

The movie’s plot doesn’t sound like it has anything to do with the rappers—they’re certainly not “failed”—but the phrase “Run The Jewels” is more commonly associated with the duo than it is with jewel heists these days. And even though El-P would like to make a Run The Jewels movie some day, it’s not the one Kevin Hart’s interested in making right now.
.@KirkRogersRadio yes I meant for us.

It doesn’t look like Meow The Jewels has been snapped up yet, so El-P might want to register that title right away.
