Kevin Smith provided the voice of a Stormtrooper in The Force Awakens

We already know about Daniel Craig’s secret cameo as a Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but apparently J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm hid a bunch of other voices behind those white helmets. As reported by Cinema Blend, the official Star Wars website recently posted a list of some of the other people who provided voices for the movie’s many faceless soldiers and funky aliens, and while most of them are sound designers and editors, a few of them are actually relatively famous. For example, Dee Bradley Baker (Klaus on American Dad) played an alien who yelled at some Stormtroopers, and Sam Witwer (Galen Marek in the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video games) played a guy who yelled “Blast that X-Wing!” at some point.

However, the biggest name to appear on the list is none other than professional nerd Kevin Smith. As it turns out, he was the guy playing the Stormtrooper who always wore jean shorts and a hockey jersey. You never see him onscreen, but you can hear him say “We have incoming at 28.6! Move!” outside Maz Kanata’s place during the battle on Takodana. You’ll just have to take our word that he was wearing a hockey jersey and jean shorts, but come on. He totally was.
