Kevin Smith, RZA, and Mark Hamill to appear at Stan Lee tribute event Excelsior!

It’s been nearly two months since comic book legend and general pop culture legend Stan Lee died, and Marvel has been been paying homage to him with tribute banners at the top of its comics since then (occasionally resulting in some weird/awesome pairings). Lee’s “Distinguished Competition” over at DC also ran a tribute to him, and now a bunch of Lee’s famous friends and admirers are coming together for a special celebration of his life at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Dubbed “Excelsior! A Celebration Of The Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible, & Uncanny Life Of Stan Lee,” the event will be hosted by noted comic book fan Kevin Smith through Legion M, Agents Of Mayhem, and Stan Lee’s Pow! Entertainment, and it’ll include chats with celebrity guests like Mark Hamill, RZA, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, The Dark Knight producer Michael Uslan, and X-Men movie producer Tom DeSanto. There will also be an exhibit featuring art inspired by Lee’s work, some costumes and props related to things he made, and a musical performance of some sort.

The tribute will be held on January 30 and tickets are available at this link, with a press release explaining that “all net proceeds” from the ticket sales will go to The Hero Initiative (a charity benefitting comic book creators, artists, and writers in need). You can see a poster for the event below.
